On March 26, the governor signed House Bill 1400, which amends the 2014-16 biennial budget. The bill appropriates $17.7 billion in general funds for 2014-15, down .2 percent from the 2014 special session budget. The general fund budget includes $5.4 billion in direct aid to public education (down 1.7 percent) and will increase 2.2 percent in 2015-16 to $18.1 billion, with $5.6 billion devoted to direct aid to public education (up 2.9 percent).
