Maximizing Education Data Use in SREB States

For nearly a decade, the demand for better education data has reverberated across the nation, fueled in part by concerns that the information is incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate. In response, millions of federal and state dollars have been invested to build state-of-the-art state education data systems, known as as Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS). This Policy on Point report looks at the status of SREB states on the essential elements of SLDS and describes barriers and actions states can take for more effective data use.
