Dr. Harold Blanco

General information

Teaching Institution: Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia

Field of Study: Instructional Technology

Leading the way for teachers in West Virginia.

I work with pre-service teachers who I assist as they complete their student teaching and become certified teaches. I support them academically by meeting with them before they register for classes, in order to make sure they are on track to graduate. I also supply them with access to the latest technology tools applicable to their subject matter. I serve as a role model as I help them believe in themselves and believe that they can in fact finish and become teachers in West Virginia.

Dr. Blanco is currently a part of a three-year $1.5 million National Science Foundation grant that will identify talent among middle school students in Appalachia using robotics and recycled materials. When asked about how DSP helped him in attaining his goal of tenure, Dr. Blanco replied,” I could not have finished my Ph.D. work without the love and support of SREB. It was not only financial, but moral, professional and even spiritual. They were there for me all the way and believed in me.”
