Position Description

SREB seeks a candidate with skills and knowledge to support computers, networks, software applications and Microsoft operating systems. The position reports to the director of information technology and provides assistance for those using SREB’s computing resources.  

Responsibilities

System support specialists are responsible for all aspects of helpdesk support and technical assistance. They must address a wide variety of user issues, including software problems, hardware failures and network issues.

Work with the SREB IT team to provide timely technical support for users and work to resolve complex problems

Respond to helpdesk tickets and document problem resolutions in a timely manner

Monitor, upgrade and troubleshoot network, hardware and software systems to support normal business operations

Train users on all network, computer and software systems

Help design, configure and test modifications and upgrades to existing systems, such as SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Manage user account information, permissions and rights, including groups

Configure, test, and troubleshoot network connectivity and wireless access for local and remote computers or devices

Support and enforce information technology policies

Provide basic troubleshooting of web page/web server issues

Assist in troubleshooting web-based database and connectivity errors

Make minor changes to HTML content in our on-premise websites

Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing relevant information

Skills/Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a college or technical degree or commensurate training and experience.  Candidate will have broad experience in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Operating Systems, desktop and laptop hardware, including some routine maintenance, TCP/IP, basic network troubleshooting, Wi-Fi networks and Outlook.

Required

Strong communication and customer support skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of management
System administration, LAN knowledge, networking, network maintenance, operating systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow detailed directions, policies and guidelines in resolving problems for IT clients
Some exposure to Visual Basic or Java
Some exposure to relational databases such as SQL Server
Server Operating Systems including Windows 2008/2012 Server

Preferred

Symantec Backup Exec or similar enterprise backup solution
Adobe InDesign, Visual Studio, Office 365 Pro Plus 2016, Camtasia, GoToMeeting, Skype for Business, OneDrive, Spiceworks Helpdesk or similar helpdesk system
Microsoft Hyper-V and Server Virtualization
Microsoft Clustering
Technical certifications of interest: MTA, MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, A+, i-NET+, certified internet webmaster
