Increasing Accountability for Teacher Preparation Programs

SREB states face new challenges as they adapt to the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This report, a part of the Challenge to Lead education goals series, reviews SREB states' progress in strengthening their accountability systems to ensure that their teacher preparation programs are producing quality teachers. The report identifies what SREB states are doing to respond to increased pressure for sound accountability systems and how states are ensuring that alternative programs are producing qualified teachers for schools.
