Resolve and Resources to Get a Qualified Teacher in Every Classroom
By Lynn Cornett and Gale Gaines
Every student deserves qualified teachers, but states do not have enough
qualified teachers for every subject in every school. This report, a part of the
Challenge to Lead education goals series, documents SREB states' progress toward
getting a qualified teacher in every classroom. It highlights the essential
policies that SREB states should resolve to develop and to support with adequate
resources.
Keywords: highly qualified teachers, data systems, teacher preparation,
accountability, licensure/certification, technology, mentoring, professional
development, salary, incentives, differing roles for teachers,
pay-for-performance
Goals that it reflects: Every student is taught by qualified teachers.
