Progress in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate in SREB
States
By Heather Andrews.
SREB's Goals
for Education: Challenge to Lead
outlines several goals, one of which is “All recent high school graduates
have solid academic preparation and are ready for postsecondary education and a
career.” One important way to assess progress toward this goal is to
measure how many students enroll in and pass Advanced Placement and
International Baccalaureate courses. This publication focuses on the numbers of
schools offering the programs, students taking the courses and students passing
the end-of-course tests. It also describes the actions that some states are
taking to facilitate progress.
Keywords: AP, IB, end-of-course exams, college-level courses, college
preparation, academic preparation, college credit, professional development
Goal that it reflects:
5. All recent high school graduates have solid academic preparation and are
ready for postsecondary education and a career.
