High School to College and Careers: Aligning State Policies

By Joan M. Lord

SREB states’ programs and requirements related to the transition from high school to college and careers vary considerably. Specific state policies govern several areas: the courses and tests required in high school; early outreach; joint enrollment programs; college admission and placement standards; colleges’ reports to high schools about their graduates’ performance; and merit-based scholarships. This document gives one-page summaries of states’ policies in all of those areas.

Keywords: readiness, graduation
