2003 SREB Annual Meeting
The 2003 SREB Annual Meeting was held June 22-24 in Austin, Texas. Highlights
include:
National Assessment of Educational Progress:
The just-released NAEP
reading results contain good news for the South. Of 16 states with statistically
significant improvement from 1998 to 2002 in fourth grade reading, for example,
half are SREB states. This was the point made by a banner
at lunch on June 23. The speaker at that luncheon was Darvin
Winick, chairman of the National Assessment Governing Board.
