What are the most recent education issues and actions by lawmakers across the 16-state SREB region? The answers can be found here, in the reports and expertise of SREB's State Services staff.

Legislators, governors' staffs and other policy-makers often turn to SREB State Services for information on topics ranging from education governance, to state budget actions, college remediation rates, Advanced Placement participation,  tuition increases, safe schools, and much more.

State senators, representatives, their staff members and others may contact State Services for assistance at any time.

Based on research and meetings with leaders in SREB states during their legislative sessions, the State Services staff also provides an annual series of Legislative Reports on the latest governors' proposals, bills and funding for education in the member states. The Legislative Briefing, a topical summary of these actions, is the final report in the series. Focus Reports cover other timely issues. Click on the links at left for the most recent publications.

In addition, State Services works closely with SREB's Legislative Advisory Council, a group of legislators and delegates from all SREB states. The Council meets several times each year to examine key issues in member states, including guiding SREB's Legislative Work Conference, the nation's oldest annual legislative forum on education issues.
