Fran Cowart
Coordinator of Assessment

High Schools That Work (HSTW), Technology Centers That Work (TCTW) and Making Middle Grades Work (MMGW) are data-driven, research-based school improvement initiatives. Using assessment and survey tools, participating states, districts and schools can establish baseline data, identify areas for improvement and track progress over time.

The primary tool is the HSTW Assessment. This assessment, required in even-numbered years, includes subject tests in reading, mathematics and science, coupled with student and teacher surveys. Schools receive comprehensive reports disaggregating student achievement by school and classroom experiences.
