Profile

Cheryl Blanco has served as vice president for postsecondary education at the Southern Regional Education Board since 2008. She leads SREB’s postsecondary policy initiatives, including the work of the Commission on College Affordability in the South and the Commission on Community Colleges. She has written and overseen publications on several postsecondary issues. Prior to joining SREB, Cheryl was vice president for National College Access Programs and executive director of the Pathways to College Network at TERI, vice president for policy and research at the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, senior program director for policy analysis and research at the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, and educational policy director at the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission. At Arecibo Technological University College at the University of Puerto Rico, Cheryl was a tenured associate professor in the English department, assistant to the dean of academic affairs and director of the division of continuing education. She holds a Ph.D. in higher education leadership.
