Profile

Gary Wrinkle is the director of state and district partnerships for school improvement. His role includes building the network of schools in Texas that utilize the HSTW School Improvement framework as well as direct consulting with school leadership and teachers to support their needs. He joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2005 as a school improvement consultant on the High Schools That Work team. He brings more than 22 years of experience as a teacher, high school assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent, and another 12 plus years of experience as a school improvement consultant. In 2010, Gary became lead school improvement consultant for SREB in Texas, focusing on helping schools improve leadership and instruction by working with central office staff, principals and teachers directly, specifically in the areas of project-based learning and distributive leadership practices. In addition, Gary has helped several high schools move from a traditional model to a career academy structure. 

Prior to SREB, he was honored as a regional Principal of the Year in Texas. He received a bachelor’s from Texas Tech University, a master’s in educational leadership from the University of Houston, Clear Lake and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Houston.
