The SREB-SCORE (Sharable Content Object
Repositories for Education) initiative is designed to help state
educational agencies, colleges, universities and schools work together to create
and share quality digital learning course content through the use of federated
state repositories or “global catalog”. The goals of SCORE - to improve the
quality of digital learning course content, to improve teaching and learning,
and to achieve costs savings - continue to be applied to all the goals
set forth in this initiative.
The objectives of SCORE are
to:
-
improve student achievement;
-
provide access to high quality learning resources;
-
leverage available resources to control and reduce costs of
digital resources;
-
address the new and evolving economic development needs of
the 21st century;
-
respond to new and increased student demands for access and
quality; and
-
provide high-quality training and support.
Successful implementation to date indicates that SCORE will become a
self-sustaining organization after three years of full operation. The
cooperative efforts among SREB states, schools, and colleges will generate
a standards-based digital content model that provides access to qualified
learning resources. SCORE participants will create and implement a resource that
promotes a successful user experience and provides technical and development
expertise through a highly collaborative community, which governs and oversees
the operation of the entity.
