Description
This course explores the foundation of nursing education with emphasis on curriculum development for
nursing education or continuing education programs.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- evaluate the influence of history of nursing education on current curriculum trends;
- critique and design a curriculum for collegiate nursing or continuing education in nursing;
- synthesize knowledge of relevant theory and research in curriculum development and evaluation;
- evaluate current issues in nursing for relevance to curriculum development;
- critique the role of the nurse educator within the profession of nursing; and
- identify special needs of students that require modifications in teaching approaches.
