2007 Cover Letter To Students

Dear First Name:

Please respond to the enclosed survey to help us evaluate our programs at ____ High School. We are taking important steps to improve the academic and technical skills of all students and value your thoughts and opinions. We are one of more than 1,000 high schools and career centers in 32 states that are part of this effort to improve learning.

Now that you have been away from high school for almost a year, you have gained some perspective on your high school education. The enclosed survey asks how you have spent the time since graduation and how well your high school program prepared you for the challenges you have faced since graduation. Question 27 asks about the area in which you have held a job, had the most training or taken the most college courses since graduation. A list of job and study/training fields appears on the back of this letter to assist you in responding to question 27.

Your responses to this survey will remain anonymous. The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) in Atlanta will have all questionnaires scanned and tallied by computer and will provide us with results that do not include student names or other identifying information.

Please return your completed survey by May 4, 2007. The survey is sent only to a small percentage of graduates, so it is very important that each individual selected to participate returns a survey. It is short - only four pages - and should take less than half an hour to complete. Please record your responses using a number two pencil. Fold the survey into thirds (just as it arrived) and insert it into the self-addressed, stamped envelope that was sent to you with the survey. If you cannot find this envelope, return your survey to the school address at the top of this letter.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in completing this survey of graduates as we work to improve our high school for future students. If you have any questions, please call ___ at the high school, (phone number: ___-___-____).

Sincerely,

______

Principal
