High Schools That Work

Documentation of Progress
Review of 2006 HSTW Assessment Data

The 2006 High Schools That Work (HSTW) Assessment results provided SREB with data confirming continued growth for schools having completed three years of support through the HSTW Contracted Schools Network. The chart below shows the growth for schools receiving external support from SREB over a period of at least three years as compared with the HSTW network as a whole and the HSTW Goals.

The HSTW Assessment includes a NAEP-referenced assessment in reading, mathematics and science; and a faculty survey, student survey and transcript analysis. The following data present an overview of the progress. A complete report (239 pages) can be obtained by contacting Rhenida Rennie at rhenida.rennie@sreb.org.

This information represents initial findings and clearly demonstrates progress in all three core areas. Contracted schools receive external support throughout their grant periods and continue to participate in HSTW after the grants end by becoming members of the state and national HSTW networks.
