Senator Thompson automatically serves on the Council by virtue of being a legislative member of the Board. Representative Austin J. Badon Jr. of New Orleans, Senator Gerald Long of Winnfield, Senator Ben W. Nevers of Bogalusa and Representative Donald M. Trahan of Lafayette are gubernatorial appointees to the Council.

The Legislative Action section of this Web site reports on the 16 member states' legislative activities related to education, which are summarized in the Legislative Reports and in the Legislative Briefing after all sessions conclude.
