Christiana Datubo-Brown serves as research associate for education data services, where she assists with analyzing data and producing publications, such as the SREB Fact Book on Higher Education, Featured Facts, and Indicators Report. She joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2017. Prior to joining SREB, Christiana served as a statistical consultant and research assistant at Auburn University.

Stephen Pruitt took office as the sixth president of the Southern Regional Education Board in July 2018. During his career, Pruitt built education policy, assessment and instructional background at the local, state and national levels. He started his education career as a high school chemistry teacher in Fayette County, Georgia, and then served in several leadership roles at the Georgia Department of Education. As senior vice president for Achieve, he worked closely with state agencies and educators around the country to improve science education. Before coming to SREB, he was Kentucky’s state commissioner of education.

Dedra Hemphill joined the accounting team at SREB in 2017, bringing nearly 20 years of accounting experience in both public and private sectors. She served as associate director and interim director at Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech for four years before opening her own fashion art and music boutique in Inman Park. She is a past accounting manager for Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
Dedra holds a bachelor’s of science in accounting from East Carolina University. She lives in Atlanta.

Carita Venable is a senior school improvement leadership coach at SREB, where she manages the Birmingham City Schools project. She joined SREB in 2018, bringing 15 years of experience in the public education sector. Prior to SREB, Carita served as an English language arts teacher, instructional coach, district school improvement supervisor, assistant principal and principal in school districts throughout the Birmingham region.
