Matthew C. Tyler
Associate Director of Continuing Education and Online Quality Assurance, Coastal Carolina University
Matthew C. Tyler, Ed.S., M.A.T., CWDP, works to advance economic development and socioeconomic mobility via education and workforce development opportunities while ensuring accessible, affordable and workforce relevant for-credit and non-credit academic degrees and credentials. Tyler works with labor market information and intelligence, corporate and government partnerships, the S.C. Unified State Plan for Education & Workforce Development and Ascend 60 x 30. At Coastal Carolina University, Tyler leads online learning, continuing and professional education, workforce development and solutions, and strategic corporate and government relations related to these initiatives.
Tyler is a Certified Workforce Development Professional and is one of 23 people selected nationwide to be in the inaugural Certified Workforce Development Leader program with the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and the University of Georgia, via the NAWDP Leadership Academy.
At the state level, he serves on the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development Career Pathways and Education Alignment Toolkit Leadership Committee and co-chairs its Education Alignment Subcommittee, where he helps shape statewide strategies for aligning education and workforce development with employer demand. Additionally, he serves on SCDEW’s Waccamaw Regional Advisory Board and Industry Association Committee and is an active member of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Education, Workforce Development Committee and the Economic Engagement Committee.
Tyler earned his Ed.S., M.A.T., and B.A., summa cum laude, from Coastal Carolina University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in public administration at Liberty University.
