Kirsten E. Sundell
Director of Product Development and Communications for Career Pathways
Kirsten Ewart Sundell is the director of product development and communications for career pathways at the Southern Regional Education Board. In this role, she contributes to the design and delivery of technical assistance and resources that help states create pathways linking high school, postsecondary education and labor market opportunities. She first joined SREB in 2013 as special assistant to Gene Bottoms, senior vice president. She is the co-author of Credentials for All, which offers policy guidance and research-based practices states can use to increase postsecondary attainment. Kirsten formerly served as communications director of the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education and as the co-principal investigator of the NRCCTE’s longitudinal study of the impact of programs of study on student achievement. As a consultant to Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education, she served as principal investigator of the University of Louisville’s GEAR UP program. She is the former co-editor of the Journal of Education for Students Placed At Risk. She holds a doctorate in English from the University of Notre Dame.
