Profile

Tricia P. Avery is a special assistant to the SREB president. In this role, she manages the president’s calendar and handles the organization’s meeting planning. She plans many activities for the SREB Board, including the annual meeting, Legislative Work Conference, Legislative Advisory Council and special commissions, and solicits bids from hotels and negotiates lodging contracts and rental car agreements. In 2016, she retired from serving as SREB’s HR director — a position she held since 2000.

In that role, Tricia worked with the organization’s leadership to link human resources planning and management strategies with organizational goals. Prior to heading SREB’s human resources, Tricia served for three years as the director of professional development for SREB’s school improvement initiatives. Before joining SREB, she served as a prevention specialist with Prevention and Motivation Programs, training elementary and middle school teachers and counselors throughout Georgia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology and a master’s in industrial/organizational psychology.
