Policy Analyst Samantha Durrance presented at the 2018 High Schools That Work conference on supporting struggling readers in secondary schools, especially students with dyslexia.

Attendees left with a basic understanding of dyslexia and how children learn to read, as well as resource toolkits including:

  • Instructional strategies that help support students’ vocabulary, fluency and comprehension in all subject areas;
  • High-quality reading intervention programs designed for secondary students;
  • Assessment tools for identifying which skills to target for struggling readers; and
  • Assistive technology and accessibility resources to help students with dyslexia and struggling readers in general.
