The Benefits of Attending an HBCU

In this webinar, representatives of Florida A&M University and Spelman College provide a look into the unique campus culture, academic learning environment and social experiences found at historically black colleges and universities. This webinar was designed for school counselors and college access advisers who work with students of color in order to help them become more familiar with the special opportunities HBCUs provide.


Image of Kimberly WilliamsKimberly Williams D’Haene, a certified alumnus recruiter for Spelman College, is the director of academic success at Georgia State University College of Law. She works with faculty, students and the administration to develop academic skills enrichment programs to maximize student academic performance. D’Haene served as a bar examination grader for the Georgia Board of Bar Examiners and has lectured nationally on writing for the bar exam for Kaplan Bar Review. Prior to joining Georgia State Law, D’Haene was the assistant dean for academic achievement at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. 


Image of Rashan AliRashan Ali, a certified alumnus recruiter for Florida A&M University, is a former sports broadcaster and currently the co-host of Sister Circle Live, a daily talk show committed to providing information and perspectives that are often underrepresented. She is also the founder of Sporty Girl, a non-profit organization that has a mission to encourage the development of young girls through participation in non-traditional sports. Ali serves on the HBCU for Life Committee, an initiative of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority that encourages students to attend HBCUs.
