College- and Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference

July 14-16, 2014

The College-and Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference focuses on bringing proven literacy and math teaching strategies into classrooms. These strategies are part of the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) and Mathematics Design Collaborative (MDC) frameworks, and they help students reach the deep learning necessary to master college- and career-readiness standards. LDC and MDC give teachers a way to build lessons that engage students to read, think about and write about challenging texts -- in all disciplines. In math, students learn the why as well as the how by developing their math reasoning and problem solving skills. Learn more at!

PBL Pre-Conference

Using Project-Based Learning in Academic and Career-Technical (CT) Classrooms to Engage Students in Deeper Learning Experiences
July 14-16, 2014

Participants will learn the elements of robust assignments in CT classrooms and how to plan instruction that incorporates the eight elements of effective project/problem-based design. Participants will redesign existing assignments so that they incorporate a mix of academic, cognitive and technical skills to advance students' readiness for work and further study.

*The cost per person is combined with the registration fee for the HSTW Staff Development Conference. Attendees cannot register for the pre-conference and the College- and Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference as they occur on the same dates.

SREB Readiness Courses Institute

July 16-19, 2014

For the first time, the annual HSTW Staff Development Conference will host a professional development institute with a focus on teachers helping students successfully transition into postsecondary education and careers. These powerful, free literacy and math courses teach students the skills they need to learn and think independently after high school. Go here to learn more about these courses!

*Attendees cannot register for both the institute and the HSTW Staff Development Conference as they occur on the same dates. They can however, register for the College- and Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference, if they so desire.
