The Sandhills Regional Education Consortium will host a training for Essentials for College Mathematics. Teachers who complete the training will receive a $50 per day stipend to assist with their travel expenses. Sign-in is at 8:30 a.m. each day, with training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

Essentials for College Mathematics

This course emphasizes understanding of mathematics concepts rather than just memorizing procedures. By engaging students in real-world applications, Essentials for College Mathematics develops critical thinking skills that students will use in college and their career. This senior math course has been implemented in over 300 high schools in North Carolina to increase student preparedness for college-level coursework, and is accepted by the UNC system for admission requirements.
