This webinar will focus on the development and implementation of a campus-wide, strategic inclusion and diversity action plan.  Dr. Reyes will address various phases of the planning process including: guiding principles and questions, frameworks and structure, leadership and committees, target goals and timelines, action steps and deliverables, budget and resources, and accountability and assessment.  Additionally, the webinar will also include research, reports, and findings from the first two years of implementation as well the latest national literature on diversity and inclusion planning.  

Presenter

Dr. Kyle A. Reyes currently serves as Special Assistant to the President for Inclusion at Utah Valley University (UVU).  In his current role as UVU’s Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Reyes leads UVU’s Strategic Inclusion plan comprised of over 30 initiatives focused on making UVU a more inclusive campus.  He has been at UVU for nearly 13 years working in programs for underserved students. Dr. Reyes is also an Assistant Professor of Education at UVU and teaches courses in Multicultural Education and Family & Community Partnerships.  His research focuses on the conditions for P-20 student success among historically marginalized populations (with specific attention to Pacific Islander, Native American/American Indian, and Latina/o communities); Leadership for Equity and Access in P-20 settings; and Institution-wide inclusion and diversity strategic planning.  Last year, Dr. Reyes was appointed to the Governor’s Multicultural Commission and from 2012-2014, was elected by his peers statewide to co-chair the College Access Network for the Utah System of Higher Education.  Dr. Reyes has received a number of awards including: UVU Board of Trustees Award; the Exemplary Educator for Diversity Award for the state of Utah from the National Association of Multicultural Education (NAME); and most recently, the top 50 Diversity Executives in the Nation from Diversity MBA Magazine.
