The Southern Regional Education Board will hold its annual State Leaders’ Forum on November 13 – 14 at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This Forum convenes teams of legislators, policymakers, state education board members, secondary and postsecondary education leaders, and workforce agency representatives to explore policies and practices that help more young adults earn the credentials they need to secure well-paying jobs.

This year’s Forum will also focus on the development of the SREB Challenge to Lead Goals 2030. The Forum will be called to order by SREB Board Chair and Governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson.

The Forum will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13 and adjourn by 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14.

The Winter Meeting of the Legislative Advisory Council will be held on November 15 - 17 at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. The meeting, designed to prepare your for your upcoming legislative session, will include presentations and discussions on topics such as dual enrollment, free and low-cost educational resources for students, and how schools and districts can support the social and emotional well-being of students to increase their achievement.

The LAC meeting will begin with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15 and will adjourn by 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, prior to the luncheon provided for all guests. 

SREB will make your hotel reservation and cover the cost of the room for the required nights, and we will secure transportation between the two meeting sites. Please let us know if you will need additional nights.

FOR THOSE DRIVING:

If your one-way travel distance to or from the meeting exceeds 400 miles, SREB staff are required to make a cost comparison between the submitted mileage reimbursement and the cost of airfare, and reimburse at the lower amount.
