POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior School Improvement Coach is responsible for providing teacher, district and school leadership support through coaching and professional development; and for performing some project lead responsibilities.

Literacy Consultant

The Southern Regional Education Board works with states to improve public education at every level, from early childhood through doctoral education. We help policymakers make informed decisions by providing independent, accurate data and recommendations. We help educators strengthen student learning with professional development, proven practices and curricula. And we help policymakers, institutions and educators share scarce resources to accomplish more together than they could alone.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

SREB is using a new approach to professional development to bring powerful teaching and learning tools into classrooms schoolwide, districtwide and statewide.  SREB partners with principals, local trainers and classroom teachers to significantly increase the percentage of students meeting state college- and career-readiness standards. SREB builds capacity and sustainability within schools and districts by developing local expertise to spread literacy and math practices to existing and new teachers.

Editor/Writer

The Editor/Writer is responsible for writing, editing, proofing, and designing documents and layout for publication for the School Improvement program area.

Communications and Program Assistant

The SREB Doctoral Scholars Program helps diversify the faculty of the nation’s colleges and universities by supporting doctoral students of color. Support for program students includes financial assistance and research funding, career counseling, mentoring, and an annual conference where members learn and support one another.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Communications and Program Assistant develops a variety of communications for print, web, email and social media. This position also provides a variety of administrative support including email communication with students and recordkeeping.

President

The quality of education in the South has a tremendous effect on the economic future of the country, and the Southern Regional Education Board provides practical, independent information and evidence-based tools to inform education policy decision-making that can have a positive impact across the region. The next president of SREB will work with members of the Board and the Legislative Advisory Council to ensure that the mission and goals of SREB are advanced effectively. This may include the opportunity to cooperatively identify ways service to SREB states can be refined, strengthened and broadened. SREB seeks a leader with a bold vision to carry its proud legacy forward to meet new challenges, a strong record of managing people and resources effectively to drive mission, and the relationship savvy to broaden the organization’s base of support and amplify its crucial voice.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned executive-level leader with experience working alongside policymakers and leaders in education to collaboratively set the vision and agenda for the future. S/he will bring a depth of understanding of and engagement with the continuum of education from pre-kindergarten to graduate education and will have the managerial skill to operationally lead an organization of similar size and complexity. S/he will also be a natural ambassador and connector and will bring an exceptional and nuanced understanding of the challenges policymakers, institutions and other stakeholders face and of how to build trusting, mutually productive relationships with them. S/he will bring a coherent, tested set of management principles and practices and a demonstrated record of building team cultures that reflect values of transparency, inclusion and trust as well as excellence and efficiency.
