SREB Launches Labor Market Dashboard
Schools & Colleges Can Connect Learning to Local Careers
The Southern Regional Education Board has launched an interactive data hub to help schools and colleges connect labor market demand to education programs.
The goal of the SREB Labor Market Data Hub: Give educators access to a powerful tool to improve career pathways for students.
“All learners deserve to see a clear path to the careers they want to pursue in their communities,” said Dale Winkler, SREB interim president and senior vice president for school improvement. “K-12 districts and postsecondary institutions can use this data to be sure the education programs they offer lead to high-wage, high-demand, high-skill careers.”
The SREB Labor Market Data Hub allows users to explore employment, wages, education requirements and trends for more than 850 occupations. The dashboard features interactive data from JobsEQ for:
- each SREB state
- more than 140 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act regions within those states
- the 16-state Southern region

Connecting Education to Economic Prosperity
Improving education to advance economic vitality has been central to SREB’s mission since its founding more than 75 years ago. From sharing uncommon degree programs to modernizing high school career and technology education programs, SREB has helped states improve educational opportunities that lead to meaningful lives and robust economies.
In 2025, the SREB Commission on Career Pathways and Credentials developed forthcoming recommendations for aligning labor market demand, curricula and continuous improvement, including using labor market data to guide decision making. Previous commissions — on issues such as partnerships for work-ready students, career and technical education, and community colleges — brought together leaders from around the South to forge consensus on policy and practice.
SREB’s School Improvement services to help states, districts and schools develop or review career pathways are centered on aligning programs to in-demand pathways and priority occupations.
The Southern Regional Education Board works with states to improve education at every level, from early childhood through doctoral education and the workforce. An interstate compact and a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization based in Atlanta, SREB was created in 1948 by Southern governors and legislatures to advance education and improve the social and economic life of the region. SREB states are Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
