HSTW Pre-Conference Workshops
July 11-13, 2016
$250 per Person
Attendees may register to attend one pre-conference workshop only or register for a pre-conference workshop and the HSTW Staff Development Conference. Attending both events will cost $400 per person.
Each workshop is led by SREB’s High Schools That Work (HSTW), Making Middle Grades Work (MMGW) and Technology Centers That Work (TCTW) leaders, directors and school improvement consultants.
The workshops will be hosted in the Kentucky International Convention Center, with registration from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on July 11. The workshops will run:
- July 11: 1-5 p.m.
- July 12: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m
- July 13: 8 a.m. – Noon
A continental breakfast will be provided July 12 and 13, and lunch will be provided on July 12. All other meals are on your own.

4. Improving Student Achievement Through Teacher Teams
This workshop will provide strategies, resources and practical advice for organizing professional learning communities (PLCs). Engage in activities designed to improve and support effective leadership and instructional teams.

5. The Challenge for School Leaders: Supporting Teachers to Transform Instruction
This workshop empowers school leaders to create and support a culture of rigor in all classrooms. Learn what rigorous instruction looks like and how to use observations and artifacts to measure the level of rigor being taught.

8. Design Project-Based Assignments That Blend Academic and Technical Studies
Learn how to transform instructional practices through real-world experiences. Participants will discover how to craft interdisciplinary project-based learning assignments and embed formative assessments into such projects.
