Senator Gladys A. Robinson of Greensboro serves on the Council by virtue of being a legislative member of the Board. 
Representatives Brian Biggs of Trinity, Gloristine Brown of Bethel, Frances Jackson of Fayetteville, Brandon Lofton of Charlotte and Heather Rhyne of Lincolnton, and Senators Jay J. Chaudhuri of Raleigh and Kevin Corbin of Franklin are gubernatorial appointees to the Council.
