The Southern Regional Education Board will hold its Annual Meeting of the Board and Legislative Work Conference on June 22 – 24 at the Omni Richmond Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. The meeting will address various education topics including teacher preparation, college and career readiness, raising workforce skill levels and aligning programs to support this effort, and successes and challenges of SREB states as they strive to meet the Challenge to Lead 2020 Goals for Education.

The meeting will begin with an afternoon session at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 and will adjourn by 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24, prior to the luncheon provided for all guests. 

In addition, all SREB Legislative Advisory Council Members are invited to attend the SREB Commission on Strategic Partnerships and Work-Based Learning meeting on the morning of Friday, June 21. The meeting begins with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and concludes with lunch at 12:00 p.m.

SREB also invites you to attend an orientation luncheon for new Council members at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, preceding the opening session of the Annual Meeting and Legislative Work Conference. This luncheon will provide opportunities to meet other new members, SREB officers and senior staff, and hear from long-time members about the benefits their states have received from Compact membership. Please indicate on the registration form whether you plan to attend this luncheon.

SREB will make your hotel reservation and cover the cost of the room for the required nights. Please let us know if you will need additional nights.

If your one-way travel distance to or from the meeting exceeds 400 miles, SREB staff are required to make a cost comparison between the submitted mileage reimbursement and the cost of airfare, and reimburse at the lower amount.
