Georgia Strategic Roundtable for Educator Recruitment and Retention

Post

The Georgia Strategic Roundtable for Educator Recruitment and Retention (2025) convened more than 60 representatives from 18 state agencies, educational organizations, and stakeholder groups to develop the comprehensive, statewide strategy for strengthening educator recruitment, preparation, support, and retention across Georgia.

The Roundtable resulted in Georgia’s Strategic Plan for Educator Recruitment and Retention (2026–2031) provides a comprehensive roadmap for strengthening the state’s educator workforce through improved preparation pathways, targeted recruitment strategies, enhanced educator support systems, stronger school leadership, and data-driven decision-making. Developed by the Roundtable in response to Senate Resolution 237 (2025), the plan outlines both immediate and long-term actions to make Georgia the nation’s leading state for educators.

The Roundtable’s recommendations include legislative, policy, and programmatic actions beginning in 2026, with an estimated first-year investment of approximately $20.3 million. The plan is designed as a collaborative, multi-year effort that will continue beyond its submission to the General Assembly, with participating organizations working together to implement and monitor progress toward a stronger, more sustainable educator workforce for Georgia.

SREB played a critical role in the plan’s development, providing strategic support, research and data expertise, meeting facilitation, and guidance that helped shape the Roundtable’s evidence-based recommendations and statewide vision for educator recruitment and retention.
