George McFarland joined the SREB School Improvement team in June 2022.  Prior to joining SREB, George worked in Texas public schools for 31 years.  He served in various educational roles including, teacher, athletic director and head football coach, assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal, Chief Financial Officer and superintendent of schools. 

In addition to roles in public education, George taught college courses leading to the Superintendent certification and served as a principal field supervisor for individuals seeking their principal certification.  George is a registered school board training provider in Texas and serves as a trainer of trainers for the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System. 

George holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from the University of North Texas and a master’s in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.  He also holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University.  George lives in North Texas.
