Aligned Teaching Resources
State Implementation of College- and Career-Readiness Standards
How have state departments of education fostered local educators’ use of high-quality instructional resources that are aligned to their state’s new college- and career-readiness standards? This benchmarking report provides a descriptive overview of each state’s teaching resources.
These resources and materials are supplementary supports that educators can use on a voluntary basis; they are not a required curriculum.
In order for instructional resources and materials to be aligned to the new standards, they must provide coherent and accurate information about the standards and clearly define the knowledge and skills contained within the standards and how these differ from the state’s previous standards. Instructional resources and materials need to offer guidance to educators on the implications of the increased level of rigor required by the new standards for designing teaching and learning experiences.
