Offering high school courses to prepare ‚Äúunready‚Äù students for success in college and/or career training after graduation is a key action strategy to reduce remediation, increase postsecondary completion and provide greater access to making a living wage. <i>Essential Elements of State Policy for College Completion: Transitional Courses for College and Career Readiness</i> details efforts in states across the nation, examines the questions policy-makers need to answer when implementing college- and career-readiness courses, and presents SREB’s recommendations for 12 essential elements of an effective statewide policy to implement required transitional courses for high school students aimed at improving college access and success.
