Director, Making Middle Grades Work
Since 2017, Judy Frank has been the director of the Making Middle Grades Work initiative of the Southern Regional Education Board. She joined SREB in 2015 as a school improvement consultant to the organization’s High Schools That Work/Making Middle Grades Work initiative, where she brings more than 33 years of experience working on issues of education policy and practice in the public education sector. She has worked in partnership with Gear UP Alabama, a seven-year $49 million grant to increase the number of low-income students prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. In addition, she has presented at several principal institutions in an effort to raise student achievement by changing school and classroom practices through leadership development. Prior to SREB, Judy served 13 years as a principal for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida, where her schools consistently received an “A” grade from the Florida Department of Education. She was also selected to mentor beginning principals and aspiring leaders for the local district and created unique summer transition programs for all incoming students and designed and implemented a STEM program to accelerate struggling learners. Judy holds bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Central Florida and an educational specialist degree from the University of Florida.
