Program Director, Making Middle Grades Work
Judy Frank is the program director of the Making Middle Grades Work initiative. She joined SREB in 2015 as a school improvement consultant to the organization’s High Schools That Work/Making Middle Grades Work initiative, bringing more than 33 years of experience working on issues of education policy and practice in the public education sector. In her current role, she coordinates middle grade services across the organization and supports leadership and content coaches in school redesign. Judy has led numerous school, district, state and national workshops advocating for the needs of middle grade students.
In addition, she has presented at several principal institutions in an effort to raise student achievement by changing school and classroom practices through leadership development. Prior to SREB, Judy served 13 years as a principal for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida, where her schools consistently received an “A” grade from the Florida Department of Education. She was also selected to mentor beginning principals and aspiring leaders for the local district. She created unique summer transition programs for all incoming students and designed and implemented a STEM program to accelerate struggling learners. Judy holds bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Central Florida and an educational specialist degree from the University of Florida.
