Profile

Megan Boren leads SREB’s work on teacher workforce policy, research and technical assistance for states. In this role, she launched SREB’s Teacher Compensation Dashboard and publishes data and recommendations to help states attract, prepare and retain great teachers. 

Megan managed educator human capital roundtables in four states around recommendations from the SREB Teacher Preparation Commission. As a member of SREB’s educator effectiveness team, she led technical assistance state grants, state progress monitoring and community of practice projects. 

She joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2010. She has contributed across the organization, including project management for the postsecondary office, policy and research on college completion and college-readiness, and development of the SREB Readiness Courses.

Prior to joining SREB, Megan served as education and workforce development policy advisor to former governor of Virginia Timothy M. Kaine. She is a two-time graduate of Virginia Tech and holds a bachelor’s in political science and master’s in public administration and policy. She lives in Charlotte, N.C.
