What are the components of an effective training program for evaluators?
Many states and school districts provide basic evaluator training for conducting teachers’ evaluations. But this basic training does not assure that evaluators will be prepared to provide teachers classroom observations that are rigorous, reliable and personally relevant.
High-quality evaluator training leads to improved instructional practice, both individually and collectively. This report summarizes evaluator training in 16 states, describes eight key components of a high-quality evaluator training program and offers actionable recommendations for state and district leaders.
