Meagan Crowe joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2017 as a policy analyst for high school and postsecondary education. Her experience includes commisioned research for the Center for State and Local Finance and producing finance and education policy summaries as a graduate research assistant. Meagan holds a Master of Public Administration from Georgia State University with a certification in Nonprofit Leadership and Management as well as her Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Christiana Datubo-Brown serves as research associate for education data services, where she assists with analyzing data and producing publications, such as the SREB Fact Book on Higher Education, Featured Facts, and Indicators Report. She joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2017. Prior to joining SREB, Christiana served as a statistical consultant and research assistant at Auburn University.
Beth Day joined the Southern Region Education Board in 2012, bringing many years of experience leading strategic communications in education and nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining SREB, Beth served as vice president of the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education.
Samantha Durrance joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2017 as a policy analyst for early childhood through middle grades. Her experience includes teaching middle school mathematics and leading the student support team at an elementary school. Samantha holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Emory University and a Master of Public Policy from Georgia State University.
Leslie Eaves leads the project-based learning program at SREB, where she designs professional learning experiences for teachers to implement PBL. She joined SREB in 2016, bringing more than 16 years of experience in the public education sector. She holds both a technology education and 9-12 math license. Prior to SREB, Leslie taught high school engineering courses in North Carolina. She joined North Carolina New Schools in 2011 as a math content coach and a general instructional coach, where she implemented school-centered learning strategies and STEM practices.
Paula Egelson is the division director of research and accountability. She joined the Southern Regional Education Board in September 2010 as director of research to the school improvement team. She brings more than 35 years of experience as a K-12 educator, director of reading and school improvement, and senior research analyst. While at SREB, Paula has co-authored research and policy publications on preparing principals to be more effective and improving the quality of career and technical teacher preparation.
Shelly Flygare joined SREB in 2017, bringing 15 years of experience in the public education and post-secondary sectors. She was an elementary teacher and instructional coach in New Mexico and South Dakota before moving into administration in New Mexico. She has served as a central office administrator within the instruction department and as an elementary principal. In addition, she has taught post-secondary courses in reading and early childhood education.
Judy Frank is the program director of the Making Middle Grades Work initiative. She joined SREB in 2015 as a school improvement consultant to the organization’s High Schools That Work/Making Middle Grades Work initiative, bringing more than 33 years of experience working on issues of education policy and practice in the public education sector. In her current role, she coordinates middle grade services across the organization and supports leadership and content coaches in school redesign.
Betty Fry-Ahearn is a school improvement leadership coach. She began working with the Southern Regional Education Board in 2001 as a school leadership consultant.
Jeff Gagne joined the Southern Regional Education Board in 2010. He oversees SREB’s policy analysis efforts, including policy briefs, reports, state policy support and SREB’s customized, biennial state progress reports. He brings more than 20 years of experience in education policy issues at the state, federal and regional levels. Prior to SREB, Jeff worked for a governor, a state department of education and the United States Senate. He earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University.
Beth Green leads the Advanced Career initiative at SREB, where she is responsible for implementing AC in states, districts, and schools. She provides leadership for AC implementation, coordinates activities and staff, and organizes and implements AC professional development. Beth joined SREB in 2007 as a school improvement consultant, later facilitating AC curriculum development, and began development of a network of schools implementing AC through academy design.
